Our curriculum is diverse and engaging. We follow the interest of the child and build brilliant learning experiences around what they enjoy doing. Each day, as well as having regular time for coming together in differentiated group activities like story time, and specific activities tailored to our curriculum focus at that time, we enjoy continuous provision both indoors and out.

Daily Routine
AT HONEY BEES
DAY NURSERY

Continuous provision allows children to:

• Be active, confident participants
• Make choices to create their own learning contexts
• Make choices based upon their own learning and experiences
• Have the time and space to really immerse themselves in an activity they’re enjoying
• Be imaginative, original and innovative and create ‘alternative worlds’ for themselves
• Be solitary or play in groups
• Concentrate and collate all they’ve learned, felt and understood that session
Babies (0 months to 2 years):

• Exploratory play with sand; malleable play with playdough and water; mark-making and painting; sensory discovery with soft toys; books, mirrors and musical instruments.
• Physical play with construction, small equipment, blocks, tunnels and dens.
• Imaginary play with role-play and small world.
• Rest and relax in the quiet sleeping room when it all becomes too much.
• Direct access to an inviting baby garden with lots of opportunities for physical play and exploration
Tots and Pre-School (2 to 5 years):

• Cosy areas include home-corners with dressing up and role-play, book areas and soft cushions/ bean bags for some quieter time to settle down. Also, there’s the land of the small where imaginations can run free, a construction area where young builders can create masterpieces and a musical area too.
• There’s water play; mark-making and painting, a maths area with fun activities on offer at all times, junk model-making and lots of tactile activities including sticking, crafting, colouring and creating.
• Direct access to an inviting tots and pre-school garden with lots of
opportunities for physical play and exploration.
• In pre-school, our trained Forest School Teacher, Amy, delivers engaging
sessions where children are taught carefully to use tools, make camp fires,
care for bees and build dens under close supervision at all times.
• Our trained staff provide engaging musical sing-a-long sessions with the children which they love.
• Our yoga instructor, Libby, holds relaxing and mindful yoga sessions with the children where they stretch and learn to focus on their bodies’ strengths.
• Our trained staff hold wake-and-shake and music and movement sessions daily with the children to get their bodies moving and their blood pumping.

Outside
There’s a vast set of beautiful gardens and outdoor natural space for children to explore at Honey Bees come rain or shine. There are cars and trikes, water play, digging pits, building blocks and playhouses where children can immerse themselves in their imaginations. They can explore the natural world when playing amongst the trees and dens; observe the guests in the ‘Bugs Hotel’ and have fun making mud pies in the ‘mud kitchen’.
Our magnificent gardens and allotment offer an inspiring playscape for children. Our sand shed is also a firm favourite with our little ones.
They dig, excavate and build with sand and have lots of fun imagining themselves by the seaside.
